The discovery of some wonderful hand carved wooden horses was the beginning of the painted animals. A German family of carvers who immigrated to Mexico did the carvings in 1962. The animals were originally destined for a carousel. And then Frank Colson showed new creativity with the array of colors in a one of a kind work of art.

Natural wood, hand carved, stained and varnished.

The last of Colson's series, "Cheval au natural" is a one of a kind, wooden horse, hand carved by the famous German Mueller Family.

The Muellers immigrated to Mexico in pursuit of their craft and this is one of the last Carousel animals they produced. Their work is acclaimed the world over for it's artistic beauty.

Frank Colson has given this magnificent horse an original new look.
